Palike engineer arrested

The Bangalore Metropolitan Task Force (BMTF) on Friday arrested an assistant engineer in the East Division for encroachment of a stormwater drain (SWD) in Ulsoor.

According to the BMTF police, Chandrashekhar was arrested for constructing a public library, a public toilet and a watchman shed on the stormwater drain on Cambridge Road in Ulsoor, spending the Palike's money.

The Chief Judicial Magistrate has remanded Chandrashekhar in judicial custody till September 29.

About a year ago, the chief engineer (SWD) of the Palike had given an undertaking to the then Chief Justice of Karnataka High Court Jagdish Singh Khehar that the encroachment of the SWD would be removed.
