Patient jumps to his death at Bowring Hospital

 A 31-year-old patient jumped to death from the seventh floor of the new building at Bowring Hospital on Tuesday afternoon.

According to the police, the deceased is Rukmini Kanth, a native of Kunigal, in Tumakuru district. He was admitted to the hospital with tuberculosis.

On Tuesday afternoon, he told members of his family that he would go for a walk. He came out of the ward and jumped to his death, the police said.

The public noticed him lying in a pool of blood and informed the hospital authorities. They checked on him and declared him dead. Police suspect that he committed suicide due to depression.

A senior police officer said, “The nurse and doctors will be questioned to ascertain how the incident took place. It is their duty to keep a watch on the patients and if they are found guilty, action will be initiated against them.”

A case has been registered at Bowring Hospital outpost police station.
