The relatives of a patient who died at a private hospital in Parappana Agrahara staged a protest on Sunday, alleging medical negligence.

According to police, Kalpana, a native of Srirangapattana, was admitted to the Anugraha Nursing Home in Parappana Agrahara three days ago. She developed health complications after delivering a baby. She had bleeding in abdomen and  was advised  surgery.

However, her family members did not give their consent for the surgery. The patient’s condition worsened and she died on Sunday morning, police added.

The woman’s relatives got furious when doctors proclaimed her dead. They staged a flash protest alleging medical negligence and demanding action against the doctors.

Police then rushed to the spot and pacified the protesters. “We held talks with the protesters and convinced them about the cause of her death.

They too realised that the death was not due to medical negligence and withdrew their protest. No case has been registered as they did not lodge a complaint,” police said.
