A pet mongrel bit 10 people, including seven children, at Yamlur near Marathahalli on Tuesday evening before being killed by angry residents of the area.

The BBMP has registered a case against the dog owner.

Parvez Ahmad Piran, Joint Director, Animal Husbandry Department, BBMP, said the dog was straying on the road and bit seven children and three adults.

Among the affected persons, eight got third degree bites, which left them bleeding. The residents then beat the dog to death.

The BBMP has taken possession of the carcass of the dog and sent it for post-mortem.

The affected persons were later given free vaccination by the BBMP.
