Petitioner fined for misleading court

The Karnataka High Court on Friday imposed a cost of Rs 20,000 on a petitioner for  for misleading the court and wasting its time.

T R Thimme Gowda, a resident of Hassan, had approached the court contending that he was not given an e-khata even after applying for one.

Subsequently, in the course of the hearing, the government submitted to the court that there was another person also seeking an e-khata for the same property and the government official had to verify the original owner of the property. Gowda had received an endorsement stating that verification has to be conducted.

The petitioner had not disclosed this information to the court. Justice Raghavendra S Chauhan imposed cost of Rs 20,000 on the petitioner and dismissed his case.
