The Consortium of Indian Petroleum Dealers has deferred its decision to shut petrol bunks on Sundays to save operation costs.

A decision to continue operations was taken following an invitation by oil marketing companies to discuss their grievances. Dealers had earlier decided to shut bunks on all Sundays with effect from May 14, besides working in a single shift of 12 hours to cut operation costs.

In addition to more commission, dealers also want implementation of the Apoorva Chandra committee report.

Karnataka Petroleum Federation president B R Ravindranath said the next step would be decided after a meeting of oil companies in Mumbai. “We do not want to cause any inconvenience to the public,” he said.
