Many citizens, who had come to the booths to vote during the polls, were disappointed to find their names missing from the voters’ list.

There was also duplication of names.  A voter’s name was repeated as many as seven times in the rolls at BBMP Junior College and High School booth in Tasker Town.

Sufian, a resident of Shivajinagar, said, “A few first-time voters  were disappointed as their names didn’t feature in voters’ list.” A K Varadhan, a resident of HAL III Stage, said that around 500-600 names from his ward had been transferred to neighbouring Jeeevan Bima Nagar.

Similar complaints were reported from Rajiv Gandhi Stadium booth in Srinagar ward which sparked protests by JD(S) supporters. Over 200 names were missing from the rolls at a booth on Ali Asker Road. Over 120 residents of Ganganagar were agitated after learning that their names were missing. Jude Rajesh Ferrao, a resident of HRBR Layout, 2nd Block, blamed the negligence of BBMP officials.

Tension prevailed for a while in a few booths in Govindarajnagar, especially in Marenahalli (ward 125)  and Maruthi Mandir (ward 126) areas after a few groups of voters had heated arguments with the polling staff as they could not find their names in the list. Similar incidents were reported from Govindarajnagar Main Road, Maruthi Mandir and Nagarbhavi.
