He was delivering the ninth Rev Stanley Samartha Memorial Lecture organised by the Bangalore Initiative for Religious Dialogue on Thursday.

Delving into the topic of religious pluralism, Tully felt that pluralism was fundamental to  religions in India, where faith had become highly individualistic and yet had a part of pluralism in it. Later answering questions, he expressed his delight at the Ayodhya verdict as it did not result in violence.
