Bengaluru: The South Western Railway (SWR) has stepped up security at the KSR Bengaluru railway station ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi's visit on Sunday to flag off three Vande Bharat Express trains.
The SWR said that the Railway Protection Force (RPF), the Government Railway Police (GRP), and the Bengaluru police had put in place a multi-layered security plan.
Security measures include deployment of bomb-sniffing dog squads, additional RPF, Railway Protection Special Force (RPSF) and GRP personnel, use of door frame metal detectors, hand-held metal detectors, and baggage scanners.
All entry and exit points at the station will have strict access control. Passengers have been asked to reach the station well in advance to allow time for screening.
Minister of State for Railways V Somanna assessed the preparedness and infrastructure arrangements at the station on Friday with a focus on security measures and crowd management.
SWR General Manager Mukul Saran Mathur and RPF Hubballi Principal Chief Security Commissioner RSP Singh accompanied him.
