<p>Hubballi: The South Western Railway (SWR) recorded Rs 3,172.82 crore passenger revenue in 2024-25, an increase from Rs 3,090.5 crore in the previous year, with its gross revenue reaching Rs 8,340.90 crore.</p><p>Passenger traffic was 165.51 million travelers during the year, surpassing the previous figure of 162.16 million. Other coaching revenue rose to Rs 335.24 crore, up from Rs 328.26 crore, while parcel revenue increased to Rs 166.6 crore from Rs 157.77 crore last year. Commercial sundry revenue rose to Rs 91.60 crore from Rs 78.90 crore in the previous year. Rs 188.07 crore was earned through scrap sales against a target of Rs 160 crore.</p><p>The SWR recorded a total freight loading of 45.66 million tonnes (MT) in 2024-25, including 32.69 MT from Hubballi division, 10.89 MT from Mysuru division, and remaining loading from Bengaluru division. In March 2025, SWR reached its highest monthly originating freight loading of 5.024 MT. The railway zone also achieved the highest-ever originating mineral oil loading of 2.56 MT during the year. Additionally, a record 3,870 eight-wheeler units were loaded in a single day, the highest recorded for the financial year.</p><p>The loading of raw materials for steel plants was 1.31 MT, along with 0.113 MT dolomite loading. Iron ore loading for March 2025 stood at 2.02 MT, the highest for the financial year. An all-time high in steel loading loading on a single day was on March 31, with 29 rakes and 1,539 units.</p><p>Electrification of 67.57 route kilometers was completed in the financial year, bringing the total electrified route length to 3,323 out of 3,692 kilometers under SWR’s jurisdiction. 26.5 kilometers of new railway lines were commissioned and 39.1 kilometers of double lines were completed, officials said.</p>
