Police form five teams to locate techie missing from Whitefield

A week after 30-year-old techie Kumar Ajitabh's mysterious disappearance, the Whitefield police have formed five teams to trace his whereabouts.

Whitefield police inspector G Praveen Babu told DH that one of the teams has been sent out of the state in search of Ajitabh. The other teams are checking his mobile phone call records, social media posts, bank transactions and OLX customer, where he had put up an ad to sell his car. The police are also quizzing habitual offenders.

Babu said the police have been on this case ever since the youngster went missing on December 18, but remain clueless.

Working for British Telecom near Bellandur, Ajitabh had recently placed an OLX ad to sell his Maruti Suzuki Ciaz. He received a call from someone regarding his ad. He left home at 6.30 pm to meet the unknown caller and never returned.

His roommate said Ajitabh was active on WhatsApp till 7.10 pm, after which his cell phone was switched off. The police said his last mobile tower location was traced to Gunjur near Whitefield.

Ajitabh wanted to sell his car to pursue an executive MBA programme at IIM-Kolkata for which he was selected.
