Bengaluru: Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar said that the state government would introduce a policy to ban vehicle parking in the basements of buildings situated in low-lying areas.

He made the announcement on Tuesday after visiting the families of two people who were electrocuted while clearing out rainwater from the cellar of an apartment complex near BTM Layout 2nd Stage on Monday.

A woman was also killed in a wall collapse at a private company in Mahadevapura.

Shivakumar announced a compensation of Rs 5 lakh each to the family of the three victims.
