Bengaluru: M Maheshwar Rao, Chief Commissioner of Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA), was greeted with potholes, broken footpaths, uncollected garbage, and an unused bus stand during his inspection of the Outer Ring Road (ORR) stretch from Hebbal to Nayandahalli on Monday.

While inspecting the damaged service road near the Bhadrappa Layout flyover, part of the High-Density Corridor project, Rao directed officials to expedite repair works. He also flagged uneven duct chambers that had been recently fixed.

On BEL Road, where white-topping work is underway, he instructed the contractor to repair the damaged surface at BEL Junction and widen the footpath towards Mathikere. Similar directions were issued at Vidyapeeth Circle, which is also under white-topping.

Rao asked engineers to take up immediate repair of service roads between Rajkumar Samadhi and Nagarabhavi Junction, and in the Goraguntepalya Industrial Area, where roads are in poor condition.

He also took note of littering and blackspots along several stretches. A garbage transfer unit under the Summanahalli flyover was found to be poorly maintained and emitting foul odour due to leachate. Rao instructed officials to clean the area using jetting machines and identify an alternate site nearby.

The chief commissioner also ordered the removal of abandoned vehicles along the ORR.

Basavanagudi MLA Ravi Subramanya and commissioners Pommala Sunil Kumar (North) and Dr Rajendra KV (West) accompanied him during the inspection.
