Many areas in Bengaluru’s western and northern parts plunged into darkness due to power cuts and transmission failure after heavy rain.
Two electricity poles collapsed at Wilson Garden and Manorayanapalya affecting power supply. There was no power in Jayanagar, Vijayanagar, Hebbal, Puttenahalli, RR Nagar, Banashankari, Anandreddy Layout, IISc and surrounding areas.
Bescom offices were flooded with calls over complaints on power cut, collapse of electric poles and transmission issues. These offices received 753 calls in just three hours between 6 pm and 9 pm.
There were 222 complaints from Bengaluru west, followed by 177 (north), 148 (south) and 138 complaints from Bengaluru east.
