The incident was reported from southern Bengaluru’s Nagegowdanapalya, off NICE Road, around 1 am on Friday.

The Thalaghattapura police said that Vivek Samadarshi locked himself up in a room and video-called his wife, who was sleeping in the next room. He then hanged himself.

The stunned wife screamed for help. Friends later broke the door open and rushed him to to the hospital, where he died around 10 pm, the police added.

A police officer close to the investigation said that no suicide letter had been found yet, though Samadarshi’s wife alleged that he had killed himself due to workplace harassment.

The police are verifying the wife's accusations. For now, they have filed an unnatural death report.
