Gundappa, who allegedly raped a three-year-old girl at Orchids The International school in Jalahalli, was remanded in six-day police custody by a magistrate on Sunday.

According to police, medical examination was conducted on Gundappa at M S Ramaiah Hospital before producing him at the residence of the Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate in Koramangala.

A senior police officer said that they wanted the suspect in their custody for some more days so that they could gather more details about the incident.

Gundappa’s wife and daughters threatened to consume poison if he was not released from jail. Mallamma, his wife, said, “He worked as a watchman for seven years at a girls’ hostel of a private nursing college. It was located exactly where the Orchids school is now located. In those seven years, he used to work in night shifts and not a single person had complained about his behaviour. Why all this now?” she said.
