A 24-year-old real estate agent having a criminal record was hacked to death in public view by an armed gang near Rameshwara temple in Kurubarahalli under the Tavarekere police limits on Tuesday morning.

The victim, Arun, a resident of Kurubarahalli, was waiting for his friend near Rameshwara temple. At 9.45 am, even as he was speaking to his friend, 10 men arrived on four bikes. They attacked him with machetes before running away, leaving him in a pool of blood. By-standers, who witnessed the murder, ran helter-skelter.

Police informed

Some of them then called the police who reached the spot and took the body to hospital for post-mortem.

“The deceased has a murder case against him at Nandini Layout police station and a robbery case at Madanayakanahalli police station. We had warned to include him in the rowdy-sheet if he continued his criminal activities. Business rivalry is suspected to have led to his murder. A special team has been formed to nab the assailants,” a senior police officer said. Tavarekere police have registered a case.
