Bengaluru: A Bengaluru-based realtor riding a two-wheeler was killed in a road crash involving a tempo traveller near Kogilu Cross in the early hours of Monday.
Rachenahalli resident Kiran Kumar (36) was riding his TVS iQube electric scooter from Bagalur Cross to Kogilu Cross on the Ballari Road service road when the tempo traveller, coming from the opposite direction, crashed into him head-on near the Collins Aerospace company around 1:20 am.
Kumar sustained severe head and facial injuries and died on the spot, the Yelahanka traffic police said.
"The driver tried to flee with his vehicle, but was stopped by the public a short distance away. He then escaped, leaving the vehicle behind. We have launched an investigation to trace and detain him," said an officer from the traffic police station.
The tempo was empty at the time of the crash. The police have contacted the vehicle’s owner, who has reportedly agreed to come to the police station on Tuesday.
