Bengaluru: The Basaveshwara Nagar police on Wednesday arrested former Bigg Boss Kannada contestant Rajath Kishan for violating his bail conditions, officers said.
Kishan and his friend Vinay Gowda were arrested previously for uploading an Instagram reel brandishing a machete. The two were then released on conditional bail.
“Since the suspects violated the bail conditions and failed to appear before the court, a non-bailable warrant (NBW) was issued against,” a senior police officer told DH.
“The NBW was executed on Wednesday. Kishan was arrested, produced before a magistrate and remanded in judicial custody. The second suspect, Gowda, appeared before the court and was let off with a Rs 500 fine,” the officer added.
The Basaveshwara Nagar police had registered an FIR against the duo on March 20.
The two were issued notices but released on March 24 after they submitted the "machete" used in the video to the police. According to police, it appeared to be made of fibre and looked like a prop used in movies.
However, police later discovered, after being pointed out by reporters, that the machete used in the Instagram video was different from the one recovered by the investigators.
The two were subsequently placed under arrest and sent to police custody for three days before being released on bail. Police are yet to recover the machete used by the duo in the video.
