Vedike’s president Y K Muddu Krishna said that the meeting was open to all residents of Jayanagar, who could air their grievances, which would be corroborated and furthered by the Vedike.

“We have been proactively interacting with elected representatives of BBMP and other agencies to achieve a green and clean Jayanagar. Our objective is that Jayanagar should retain its residential character. Unfortunately it is becoming far too commercialised,” he said.

Civic objectives

Some of the broad civic objectives of the NGO are proper maintenance of parks, curbing stray dog menace, streamlining traffic management and safe disposal of municipal waste.

The Vedike, which was formed a year ago to oppose the Bangalore Metro project at the Lakshman Rau Park stretch, has around 400 members today.
