Roads and footpaths in and around Gandhinagar, Majestic and KR Market will soon witness a makeover as the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has decided to take up the TenderSURE project there.

The Palike has decided to develop the following roads: Subedar Chatram Road, Gubbi Thotadappa Road, Dhanvanthri Road, Hanumanthappa Road, KR Market Road, Annamma Temple Road to Kanakadasa Main Road, roads in front of Sapna Book House, Yatri Nivas, Sairam Residency, Sangam Lodge and roads around Gandhinagar.

BBMP chief engineer K T Nagaraj said, “The tender process to develop the roads in and around Majestic, Gandhinagar and KR Market is in the last leg. This project, comprising 10.61 km, will cost Rs 130 crore. Amruth Construction has been shortlisted for developing the roads in two years.”

The roads, with uniform carriageway, will be white-topped. Ducts will be laid for water, sanitary pipes, cables and rainwater.

Like other TenderSURE roads, these roads will also have space for parking. There will be bus bays, bicycle paths, bus shelters and medians on these roads, said K T Nagaraj.

Palike sources said the TenderSURE project, which has won accolades worldwide, was one of the main reasons for Bengaluru making it to the Smart Cities list.

The Palike had selected Majestic, Gandhinagar, KR market and surrounding places for its smart city project, which was later approved by the Centre.
