Roadshow by Silk Board on cleanliness, green initiatives

To educate people on the need to have a clean environment, the Central Silk Board (CSB) rganised a roadshow on Tuesday.

The event was held as part of CSB’s ‘Swachh Bharat Pakhwada’ being held from May 1 to May 15. The board also organised a day-long ‘Compost Santhe’ at its Madiwala office, showcasing the concepts of cleanliness, waste segregation, waste recycling, sustainable products, water conservation, conservation of environment, clean energy, hygiene among other related issues.

Employees and hundreds of citizens turned up at the santhe coordinated by Bangalore Political Action Committee (B.PAC) with the support of Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP). The highlight of the event was the board’s staff taking an oath to carry out composting and segregation at their homes.

Programme coordinator for B.PAC Shilpa Narayanan said, “We want government institutions to come forward to take similar initiatives. We are willing to coordinate with such firms and help them join hands with the civic agency.”
