An attempt to break into a Muthoot Finance branch in JJ Nagar was thwarted after a siren went off in the wee hours of Monday.
A CCTV footage showed an unidentified man breaking open the window of the branch and fleeing as soon as the siren went off.
The incident was recorded on the CCTV camera, which the police have taken possession of, to nab the accused.
The man entered the office at around 12.35 am by breaking the window grills.
Immediately, the sensor in the room raised the alarm after which he managed to escape. The residents, woken up by the noise, called the police helpline, a senior police officer said.
The man's face was captured in the camera as he had not covered it. The firm had not deployed any security guard and action will also be initiated against them, the officer added.
