Bengaluru: Three people, including two friends, were robbed by unidentified men while returning from a party on the outskirts of Bengaluru, the police said on Sunday.

This incident follows a similar pattern reported recently.

The incident occurred in the last week of April, but it came to light on Sunday after the probe revealed the involvement of the victim’s friend. However, arrests are yet to be made in the case.

The police complaint filed by the victim Chandan P, 23, a private firm employee residing in Shivashaktinagar in northern Bengaluru, stated that his friend of four years, Achal, invited him to a party.

While initially declining the invitation, Chandan agreed on Achal’s insistence. Achal picked Chandan up from his house. They were joined by Achal’s friend, Pavan.

Past midnight, the three left the hotel after the party. A few metres from the hotel, Achal stopped the car. When Chandan asked about it, Achal said that it seemed like somebody had hit their vehicle from behind.

Suddenly, two unidentified men appeared on a scooter, slapped Chandan, and took his gold jewellery worth around Rs 3 lakh. Chandan then went home after his friend convinced him not to file a police complaint, saying it was dangerous.

Interestingly, before arriving at the hotel, the three had gone for a long drive near the Bengaluru airport. On the way, Achal purportedly told Pavan that if they were robbed of their gold ornaments, they should be thankful to have escaped alive.

The police also found that even when the robbers targeted Chandan, the two friends did not intervene.

Chandan approached the police a week later and lodged a complaint, suspecting Achal and Pavan had orchestrated the scheme. Police investigations also indicate the same, officers said.
