Bengaluru: The police on Monday shot at a notorious rowdy-sheeter who allegedly resisted arrest and attacked a constable in Mayasandra. The suspect, Lokesh B, 40, has a criminal record, including cases of murder and extortion, the police said.
Lokesh, who had been absconding after attacking his rival Manoj with his gang’s help, was tracked down by a team from the Jigani police early Monday.
When the officers surrounded Lokesh and ordered him to surrender, he reportedly attacked a constable. Despite multiple warnings, he refused to comply, prompting the police to shoot him in the right leg to subdue him.
Both Lokesh and the injured constable were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. An investigation is ongoing, the police added.
