Speaking after inaugurating an event to mark the 58th All India Co-operative Week here on Monday, Chief Minister D V Sadananda Gowda declared that his government was committed to promote co-operative movement in the State.
Karnataka Housing Board chairperson G T Deve Gowda had appealed the chief minister to provide financial support for the varsity proposed to be set up on three acres near Nelamangala.
Describing the co-operative sector as school of democracy, Congress leader H K Patil, recalled the contribution of Sir M Visvesvaraya to the sector by establishing Industrial Co-operative Society.
Patil pointed out that the Society was under heavy loss and sought the intervention of the Government to resurrect the ailing institution.
