While online stores made good business of Sachin Tendulkar’s tell-all autobiography, the book stores in Bangalore too were not left behind as people queued up since Thursday morning to lay their hands on the book.

Along with the cricket fans, some foreigners also visited the bookstores to buy a copy of ‘Playing It My Way.’ However, some of them returned empty-handed as the books had not yet arrived at the stores.

Proprietor of the Bookworm store, M G Road, Krishna said: “It was only at 11.30 am we received the copies from the distributor, Hachette India and prior to that we had some people waiting. Some of them went back and a few preferred to wait. We sold about 35 copies on Day One. The sales are expected to soar in the coming days.”

Similarly, at Sapna Book House, people thronged in huge numbers to buy the copies. Sudhindra Gubbi, an IT professional, who managed to buy a copy in the evening said he is excited to read the autobiography of the Cricket legend.

“I am a huge fan of Sachin Tendulkar. Since, he has never spoken about his batting experiences earlier, I am curious to read about it, his experiences and interesting anecdotes. I hope it turns out to be a good book,” Gubbi added.

While at a few stores, the book was being sold at actual price of Rs 899, some stores offered 20 to 30 per cent discount. “We have two copies that has been personally signed by Tendulkar. We will hold a lucky draw in the coming week and gift each of the copy to the customers who have already purchased the book,” said Krishna.

Meanwhile, in some of the websites, the customers already put in their reviews of the book. One of the readers on a popular website said: “This book is one of the finest works. The words have come out as straight as his drives. Right from the heart of the man with a heart of gold. It is simple yet intriguing.”

The prices offered by online stores differ on the formats and editions. While the hard cover version is being sold from Rs 550 to Rs 650, the kindle version is at sale from Rs 450 to Rs 500. The book that hit the bookstands on Thursday has no paperback version currently, maintained bookstore owners.
