Bengaluru: Chairman of Karnataka State Safai Karmachari Commission P Raghu on Friday warned Greater Bengaluru Authority officials against harassing pourakarmikas, garbage auto drivers, and helpers by delaying wages.
At an interaction with pourakarmikas, loaders, cleaners and drivers of the Bengaluru West corporation at Govindarajanagar, Raghu called for strict action against officials responsible for such lapses, stressing that harassment of sanitation staff would not be tolerated.
Civil servant Anjinamma highlighted technical errors in appointment orders, including wrong entries for date and place of birth.
West Corporation Commissioner KV Rajendra assured that a special camp would be organised swiftly with revenue and social welfare departments to rectify the errors.
Concerns were raised over workers allegedly being threatened with dismissal for refusing to sort garbage. The commissioner instructed supervisors to ensure such incidents stop immediately.
Raghu also called on senior officials to provide timely assistance in cases of physical assault and verbal abuse by the public against workers.
