School students from City and State are geared up to demonstrate yoga to welcome the first ever International Yoga Day on Sunday.

While the Department of Public Instruction (DPI) has not issued any circular asking schools under it to mandatorily participate in the Yoga Day, around 11,000 students from the primary and secondary level, as well as those from PU colleges, will be taking part in the day’s celebrations at Kanteerava stadium.

“As many as 4,000 students have been drawn from the primary and secondary sections, another 5,000 from PU colleges and another 2,000 from yoga associations,” said an official.

The CBSE has given a call to all schools across the country to participate in the proceedings of the day and has given elaborate instructions on its website. At DPS, North, there will be two yoga sessions, for students, as well as parents.

The morning session is from 7 am to 7.30 am, while the evening session is from 8 pm to 10 pm.

Even though schools under ICSE and ISC Boards have not received any specific directives for participating on the International Yoga Day, some schools in the City under the Board will be taking their own initiative to do so.
