A 22-year-old woman journalist was sexually harassed by her colleague at a pub in Koramangala on November 17.

The victim, who resides on Bannerghatta Road, and works for an online news portal in Koramangala, has lodged a complaint with the police against fellow journalist Ajmal Khaleem.

The police arrested Khaleem, produced him before a magistrate and remanded him to judicial custody. In her complaint, the woman said she went to the Beer Café in Koramangala after finishing work at 9.30 pm on Saturday with her colleagues Akash Anand, Khaleem, Akash Girimath, Pebin Joshy and others.

After a few beers and some food, Khaleem began misbehaving with her. She objected to the behaviour and pushed him away. But Khaleem pulled her to the men’s restroom and behaved inappropriately.

The woman, angry and upset over the incident, told the others what had happened. They called a cab and sent her home. She reported the incident to her family and filed a complaint the following day with the Koramangala police.

The police have booked Khaleem under IPC Sections 354 and 354(d) — sexual harassment and sent him to jail.
