Bengaluru: The elections to the five municipal corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority (GBA) are expected to be held in February, as the final electoral rolls are expected to be published on January 29, 2026.
According to a circular by the State Election Commission (SEC), the ward-wise draft electoral roll will be published on December 8, while the final electoral rolls are expected to be published on January 29, 2026.
“Elections will be held in February in view of the directions by the Supreme Court,” State Election Commissioner G S Sangreshi told DH. However, GBA sources suggest that the elections may be postponed to be held in April or May.
According to the SEC’s schedule, staff training for the preparation of electoral rolls begins on November 1. After the draft electoral roll is published on December 8, block-level officers (BLOs) will start their house-to-house verification from December 9, which will go on till December 23.
The claims and objections will be disposed of in the time period between December 24 and January 7.
At a time when opposition parties have been raising concerns about the Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), Karnataka has decided to use ballot papers for the GBA, zilla and taluk panchayat polls.
