A speeding car mowed down Mounendra Bharathi, 50, a security guard, near Geetha Circle in Jayanagar 4th Block on Wednesday morning.
Bharathi hailed from Mysore and was a resident of Nagarabhavi in the City. The accident occurred when he was returning from a restaurant near Geetha Circle after having his breakfast.
The car knocked him down when he tried to cross the road, inflicting severe head injuries. He was killed on the spot.
Jayanagar traffic police rushed to the spot and arrested the car driver. Police sources said the driver was found to be in an inebriated state.
