BJP leader Jagadish Shettar has accused the BWSSB of attempting to circumvent the rules to ensure that a particular firm gets the contract for construction of Cauvery water treatment plant.

Raising the issue in the Legislative Assembly on Friday, Shettar said the BWSSB had invited tenders for the Rs 140-cr project to construct 300 MLD water treatment plant.

“The tenders will be opened in a day or two. Efforts are on to favour a particular bidder,” he said. His office released some documents later which stated that the lowest bidder was Drake & Scull - Acciona Agua JV (L1) and the highest bidder was Degremont & Degrement Ltd JV (L3).

“It looks officials are violating the rules to help a particular bidder,” he said. There was no reaction from the government for the charges he made.
