A day after 35-year-old Sathish alias ‘Sketch Manja’ jumped to his death from the second floor of Amruthahalli police station, the Karnataka State Human Rights Commission has decided to take up a suo motu case into the death on Saturday.

“We will take up a suo motu case on Saturday on the custody death,” R K Dutta, SHRC member and retired DG-IGP told DH.

Sathish’s body is yet to be claimed by his family members and the postmortem is yet to be conducted at the Bowring Hospital.

A repeat offender, Sathish had furnished false addresses and fictitious persons’ names as sureties at the police station. Around 20 crime personnel from the Amruthahalli police station have gone in search of Sathish’s family members.

Police sources said that if they fail to find any of his family members within a couple of days, they will inform about no one claiming Sathish’s body to the deputy commissioner, Revenue Department, who is the competent authority for ordering a postmortem and the cremation.
