The redesign of roads and footpaths currently undertaken as part of TenderSURE (Specifications for Urban Road Execution) according to the plan proposed by Jana Urban Space Foundation (JUSF) has not gone down well with the public.

The residents around St Marks Road, where the project is on, have expressed apprehension that with the widening of pedestrian walkways, resulting in shrunk roads, motorists would take to riding on wide foothpath to avoid traffic congestions once the stretch was operational fully.

Taking cognisance of their observations, Bruhat Bangalore Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) Major Public Works Committee members, who made an inspection of work progress at St Marks Road, said they plan to pass a resolution for redesign of the current proposal and send its opinion to Commissioner M Lakshminarayana for action.
