Six injured in LPG cylinder explosion

Six people were injured and a few houses were damaged when an LPG cylinder exploded in a house at Prakash Layout in Varthur on Friday.

The house in the ground floor was rented by Mohammad, a native of Belgaum. He lived with his son Sameer, 28 and his daughter-in-law Ujma, 24. All the three were injured in the incident. Besides, members of a neighbouring family - Ambarish Reddy, 45, his wife Sharada, 38, their daughter Krithi, 18, and Shantha Kumar, another neighbour, were also injured in the explosion, said the police.

Mohammad had moved into the house with his family a couple of weeks ago. According to the police, the LPG cylinder exploded around  7.45 am due to a leakage in the pipe. The walls of the house and furniture were damaged in the explosion. The walls of a few neighbouring houses developed cracks. Two bikes parked in front of  the house were also damaged in the incident. The Fire Department staff rushed to the spot and doused the fire. Varthur police have registered a case.
