The screening saw a huge attendance. Young college-goers, parents and small children, everyone was excited to see the movie, especially since it was a 3D film.
The movie screening, though slightly delayed, only increased the anticipation of the audience who were present in large numbers in the theatre with their family and friends. Their 3D glasses in place, the children were all ready to see the magic on screen. And the movie surely didn't disappoint the young fans of the cartoon series, who were all there to check out the flick. They seem to especially enjoy watching the story unfold on the big screen.
An epic adventure fantasy, The Last Airbender is a film adaptation of the animated television series Avatar: The Last Airbender, by M Night Shyamalan, the director of the movie. The fantasy follows the story of Aang, a reincarnation of the Avatar and also the only person on his planet with powers to control all the four elements on the planet, namely, air, water, earth, and fire.
Asleep for about a hundred years, he is released from his slumber by his new found friends, a brother and sister duo of Sokka and Katara. Aang and his friends, then journey to the North Pole to find a Waterbending master to teach Aang and Katara the secrets of the craft. But no adventure can be complete without the forces of evil and neither does this flick.
In the movie, Dev Patel plays the bad guy Prince Zuko, the Fire Nation prince who travels with his Uncle Iroh. The former heir to the throne, he was exiled by his father, Fire Lord Ozai, and was ordered to capture the Avatar in order to regain his lost honour. The movie also stars newcomer Noah Ringer as Aang, Nicola Peltz as Katara and Jackson Rathbone as Sokka.
A good idea, especially since it was a difficult task to translate the richness of the cartoon characters on screen, the movie succeeds in creating great special effects which generate awe from the audience. But the lack of script was only understandable from the audience’s reaction. “The movie had good special effects and also the locations were very cool, but there was not much substance,” said Siddartha, a student. But nonetheless it couldn’t decrease the enthusiasm of the young fans who were very happy after the screening. “I liked the movie,” said Aayush, a 10-year-old movie lover who was very excited about watching the movie in 3D.
