Sri Ramanavami was celebrated with religious fervour across the City on Tuesday.
Devotees thronged the Rama and Anjaneya temples and distributed ‘kosambari’ and ‘paanaka’ as a tribute to Lord Rama.
Elaborate arrangements were made at all the temples to ensure the safety of devotees. From morning, the temples were abuzz with activities and religious songs were played on loudspeakers.
Various cultural events, ‘keerthanas’ and ‘bhajans’ were organised at many places.At the Gali Anjaneya Temple, there was a long queue of devotees right from the morning to worship their deity. In view of large crowds thronging the temple on the festival day, elaborate arrangements had been made by the authorities at least a month earlier.
Similar crowds were witnessed at the Ramanjaneya Temple in Jayanagar, Vasantha Vallabha Raya Temple, Karanji Anjaneya Temple in Basavanagudi, Sri Sundara Anjaneya Swami Temple, Ragigudda Anjaneya Temple and Karya Siddi Hanuman Temple.
Music festival
The 76th Sri Ramanavami Music Festival at the Fort High School grounds began on Tuesday. The 31-day music festival organised by Sri Ramseva Mandali witnessed huge crowds on Day One. Renowned saxophone maestro Kadri Gopalnath performed on the inaugural day.
Governor H R Bhardwaj, who inaugurated the event said that music was essential part of life. “Music itself is life and it is needed for healing the soul,” he added.
He opined that one had to believe in and protect their culture and tradition. “If one did not believe in their own scriptures, then they will have to study a history that is not theirs,” he said. Mani Narayana Swamy, President, Sri Ramseva Mandali said that the 38-day festival had been shortened this year to a 31-day event.
