The City police have formed a special team to investigate the sensational murder of Shamsul Huda, the 64-year-old editor of an Urdu weekly and the founder-president of a credit cooperative society.

The call data record (CDR) of the deceased was the subject of particular interest to the investigators, a senior officer who handles the police’s crime wing said. The phone number from which Huda allegedly received a threat call a month ago was being traced, he added. It could be a good lead, the officer told Deccan Herald.

The investigators are probing the case with an “open mind”. All plausible angles were being looked into, he added. Police are also looking into the dispute Huda had with some people over a plot of land he owned.

Meanwhile, a police source said, Huda’s close associates and those working with him at his Tannery Road office were interrogated about the slain man’s personal background and activities.
