A newly married engineer couple was crushed to death after a speeding lorry ran over them on the Outer Ring Road in Mahadevapura on Sunday evening.
According to the police, Obal Reddy (27), a civil engineer, was riding a motorcycle with his wife Uma (24), a software engineer, as pillion.
Reddy and his wife fell on the road after he reportedly lost control over the bike when another motorcycle zipped past him.
In a split second, a speeding lorry that was coming from behind, ran over the young couple killing them on the spot. The accident occurred opposite Royal Enfield showroom on the Outer Ring Road when Reddy and Uma were returning home after visiting their relatives.
The couple from Andhra Pradesh, were residents of Bellandur.
After noticing the couple in a pool of blood, the lorry driver abandoned his vehicle and ran away.
The KR Puram traffic police have registered a case in this regard. A hunt is on for the lorry driver, the police said.
