A four-year-old female leopard was run over by a speeding vehicle on Bannerghatta Road near Kalkere Main Road on Monday around 6.30 pm.

According to Deputy Conservator of Forest (DCF) Sunil Panwar, the carcass of the animal has been shifted to the Bannerghatta Biological Park and the post-mortem would be conducted on Tuesday morning.  He said that they had not yet been able to get details of the vehicle that hit the animal. He added that the last time a leopard was killed by a vehicle was in 2007.

The DCF said they had not received any complaints of a leopard wandering in the area by the residents, despite the presence of a large number of apartments in the vicinity.
He said that normally, vehicles keep speeding on this stretch and they wanted it to stop to avoid such incidents in the future.
