Bengaluru: Unidentified persons allegedly stole gold jewellery worn by the youngest victim of the stadium stampede when her body was taken to Bowring Hospital for post-mortem last month, her mother has said.
Divyanshi Shivakumar (13) was among the 11 people who died in the stampede at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium during the RCB's IPL victory celebrations on June 4.
On Thursday, her mother Ashwini Shivakumar filed a complaint at the Commercial Street police station, stating that Divyanshi’s six-gram earrings and five-gram gold chain — worth Rs 1 lakh — were stolen from the post-mortem room at the government hospital.
"The jewellery was intact when her body was taken into the post-mortem room, but had disappeared when it was handed back to us,” Ashwini told reporters.
"My daughter was very fond of those earrings. They were a gift from a family member. I want them back because they hold sentimental value for both of us,” she said.
She added that they had asked both the hospital and police officials about the missing jewellery, but no one knew their whereabouts.
