The launch ceremony of a swanky new upcoming mall was held in town and the launch sure did reflect what was in store.

Despite the hour-long delay, that is almost expected with a star-studded event, Sonam Kapoor appeared on stage without much cue.

The fashionista stood pretty in a yellow knee-length dress and animal print heels. With bare minimum accessories Sonam seemed quite at ease and in sync with the others at the event.

Besides the style icon who was brought down from Mumbai especially for the launch, actor and anchor Mandira Bedi was seen on stage playing emcee. Mandira wore a short blue-green dress with bold black heels and introduced those on stage.

After some short felicitation rituals, everybody moved ahead to the puja mandap where the ceremony was to be held. George and Chitra Thangaiah, the owners, along with Nitesh Shetty and Sonam Kapoor performed the rituals. Sonam got chatty with the owners and a few others around.

On returning, she unveiled a few pictures of the upcoming mall to give people a glimpse of what is coming their way in future. Following this, comedian and actor Ash Chandler took the stage and entertained the audience with his brand of humour. While most of his jokes did see the audience crack up, there were some regional ones which were greeted with no more than silence.

Chandler, who has previously worked in films like Guzaarish, also displayed his vocal skills and broke into a song before many realised.

Following Chandler, it was the ladies’ turn. Mandira Bedi returned on stage and called upon Sonam again for a small rapid fire round, where Sonam had to reveal many things about herself which included her favourite brand and what it is that made her take to fashion with a frenzy. The audience cheered on as Sonam attempted to be as modest as she could through these questions.
