The deceased, identified as 31-year-old Mayank Rajani, jumped from the 12th floor of his apartment near Kudlu, under the Parappana Agrahara police station limits. Rajani had moved to the city a few years ago for work.

The incident occurred on Tuesday morning, but came to light on Thursday.

At the time, Rajani’s friend, who lived with him, was asleep. She was informed shortly after by the security guard, who discovered the body. The local police were alerted.

A preliminary investigation by the jurisdictional police revealed that Rajani was dejected over his failed start-up and so took the extreme step.

"The woman said in her statement that the start-up didn’t do well, and the victim had health issues that required constant support,” a senior police officer told DH. “Further investigation is underway.”

On Wednesday, Rajani’s parents arrived in Bengaluru and took custody of the body following the autopsy. Based on their statement, an Unnatural Death Report (UDR) was registered by the Parappana Agrahara police.
