State files report on BMRCL employees union's demands

The state government on Tuesday submitted a report to the High Court of Karnataka, comprising the proceedings of the meeting that was held with the Bangalore Metro Rail Company Limited (BMRCL) employees union in the presence of the chief secretary.

Th report stated the various demands of the union and the decisions taken during the meeting. Some of them include providing an allowance on general holidays and consideration of pay revision on par with the state government employees.

The BMRCL will also grant 10% of the basic salary as transport allowance to the metro employees. The government counsel also stated that the demand for cafeteria allowances and children's education, among others, will be considered, depending on the financial condition of the BMRCL.

The report also stated that the chief secretary had said that the metro employees are part of the government and as public servants, they should realise their responsibilities with regard to providing uninterrupted services to the public.

The government also stated in the report that it was awaiting the high court order with regard to taking a decision on granting recognition to the union.

To this, the BMRCL employees union contended that the report submitted was false, and sought to file objections.

The court granted them time to file their objections, and adjourned the hearing to June 27.
