Bengaluru Development Minister K J George on Monday said the government had taken steps to revive Thippagondanahalli reservoir, which was once a major source of drinking water to Bengaluru city.
Replying to H C Balakrishna of the JD(S) in the Legislative Assembly, he said the government had decided to divert about 1.75 Million Litre per Day (MLD) of water to the reservoir, once the ongoing Yettinahole project was completed. “The construction of a 20 MLD capacity sewerage treatment plant has been taken up at Nagasandra in order to prevent the flow of sewerage water into the reservoir,” George added.
Balakrishna urged the minister to form a committee of elected representatives to monitor works related to the revival of the reservoir.
