The milk supply in the City will remain unaffected on Sunday. It was feared that the supply would be affected in the wake of Nandini Milk Distributors’ Welfare Association threatening to go on an indefinite strike.
The distributors staged a protest in front of the office of Karnataka Milk Federation on Saturday. However, later in the day, they withdrew the protest after the KMF management assured them to look into their demands.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Rangaswamy, President, Nandini Milk Distributors' Welfare Association confirmed that they had withdrawn the protest and there would be no problem with milk distribution.
Bangalore Milk Union Managing Director T Gurulingaiah too confirmed that they had already received the required quantity of milk and curd and there wouldn’t be disruption in supply. “We have received 7,54, 915 litres of milk and 92,203 kg of curds.
There will be no problem on Sunday,” he said. Gurulingaiah said some of demands of the federation could be met only after receiving consent from the government.
The distributors have demanded a permanent solution for pilferage of milk, stopping harassment of distributors by lorry drivers, establishing banking system for the benefit of distributors and the union giving a percentage of their profit to the distributors.
