Inaugurating the centre on Friday, the Dean of the centre T D Devegowda said: “Setting up a study centre inside the jail is a welcome development. Utilise your stay inside the jail to learn more. You would have committed crime knowingly or unknowingly, and landing in jail is not the end of your life. This study centre will give open avenues for a better future.”

Devegowda informed the audience that the university presently has two lakh students on its rolls ranging from teenagers to octogenarians.

He said 30 prison inmates are enrolled with the university, who would be benefited by the study centre.
