Suicidal tendencies and depression are more among Class X girl students than boys, as also, those from higher income groups, according to a study finding.

The study — “The Prescence of Psychological Morbidity with Special Reference to Depressing and Suicidal Tendencies among Class X Students,” by Vaishnavi R Kanzal,  final year undergraduate psychology student at National Degree College, Jayanagar, found that morbidity rate (depression and suicidal tendencies) among girls was 20 pc, while it was 6.66 pc in case of boys.

Likewise, according to the study, which sought to explore the co-relation between Gender and Economic Differences, 43.3 pc of girls and 23.3 pc of boys depicted ‘average morbidity’, while 6.6 pc of girls and 20 pc of boys fell under ‘slight/low morbidity’ category.
