Supreme Court to hear plea against Plaza cinema acquisition

A bench headed by Chief Justice K G Balakrishnan refused to grant a stay on the project but agreed to hear the petition on April 9. Senior advocate Basavaprabhu Patil appearing for Shravani said the Karnataka High Court order should be stayed as it has upheld the decision of the authorities to change the alignment of the metro rail.

The Karnataka HC on last Friday dismissed a batch of petitions challenging the alignment of Namma Metro on CMH Road at Indiranagar and also questioning the legality of the project as it was being implemented under the Mysore Tramways Act and not the Indian Railways Act.

Shravani Developers had challenged the acquisition of Plaza Cinema by BMRCL for construction of a Metro station.
